Residential Carpeting is treated with stain resistant properties and soil resistors. The most common soil resistors are 3M Scotchgard and Dupont Teflon. The soil resistors do wear off your carpeting due to normal usage and cleaning. It is recommend that you have these soil resistors reapplied by a professional cleaning firm. The soil resistors will help the soil slide of the carpeting easier when vacuuming therefore you remove 30% more soil with each vacuming, spots will be easier to remove, and professional cleaning will be more effective.
