The low price is for “basic steam clean“ which is just water using a portable unit. So now when the unscrupulous technician arrives, he says “oh you have spots!” and “these traffic areas are definitely going to need corrective cleaning! Hello! Doesn’t most carpet that are requested to be cleaned have spots and traffic areas? Who do they think they are kidding? But you already have your furniture moved out and nick nacks put away, so you decide since he’s here you might as well let him do his thing.

Consumer: “ok how much is it going to cost me?”

Unscrupulous technician: "Well you have 1000 sq foot of carpet at .30cent per square foot and I also have to charge for the basic cleaning and if you want the Dupont Teflon that will come to $534.75 plus tax."
